5th edition of Women's Film Week launched on the occasion of International Women's Day

Under the patronage of HRH Princess Basma bint Talal, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, UN Women in Jordan and partners launch the 5th edition of Women's Film Week on the occasion of International Women's Day.

The film week will be running from 8 to 11 March 2017 at the Rainbow Theatre in Amman.

The UN in Jordan Commemorates World Humanitarian Day 2017

(Amman, 21 August 2017) – On Sunday, the UN in Jordan marked World Humanitarian Day 2017 granting four humanitarian excellence awards to humanitarian workers for their exemplary commitment on four thematic areas: Inclusion of People with Disabilities, Working Together, Innovation in Humanitarian Action, and Youth Empowerment. The official ceremony, held at the Landmark Hotel in Amman, was attended by humanitarians, senior government officials and members of the international and local communities.

UN agencies raise deep concern for the safety and security of thousands of vulnerable Syrians near Jordan’s North Eastern border

AMMAN, Jordan, 14 August - UN agencies are deeply concerned about the security and protection of an estimated 4,000 Syrians at Hadalat and 45,000 Syrians at Rukban – mainly women and children - who remain stranded at Syria’s southern border with Jordan. Airstrikes have been reported in the area in the last few days, causing serious distress and panic amongst the population fearing for their lives with the heightened risk of escalated hostilities.

Ten youth in Jordan selected as “SDGs Advocates”

(Amman, 6 August 2017) – As part of the United Nations’ awareness raising activities on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UN Communications Group in Jordan (UNCG) had launched a photo competition on social media targeting youth during the month of June. The competition, which was open for one month, gathered more than 200 registrations and 35 photo submissions from youth in different parts of the Kingdom. Based on predefined criteria, a UN evaluation panel was formed which selected ten youth as winners of the competition.
